If you\’re looking for some good tips on how to puppy train, it\’s a good idea to first know the basic techniques used and where to start. Understand what your puppy actually needs from you in a training situation and then learn how to give it to them. Many people make the false assumption that a puppy is much smarter than it actually is. In reality, a puppy simply reacts to you. It wants to be part of the pack and it wants to be accepted, but it\’s still an animal with animal instincts.

So your first step is making sure that you train them without scolding or yelling. Figuring out how to focus on the way they express those instincts will be crucial.

Core techniques in how to puppy train

There are a few basic things that every puppy owner should consider when training their furry friend. These tasks can make dog training much easier across the board.

Crate Training – When you take advantage of crate training you are basically showing your puppy his or her new home. The most important thing to remember here is you don\’t want to use the crate for punishment, but a place where it can feel comfortable. This helps with house breaking, bark reduction, and even anxiety issues.

Leash Training – Anytime you embark on a new technique like leash training, the goal is to make sure your dog is more controlled and can be in a calm state. Most dogs are extremely excited when it\’s time to go outside or for a walk. If your dog is trying to pull you along before you even get out the door just tug on the leash. Utilize commands that will make them sit by your side and be controlled before stepping outdoors. Eventually they will learn a simple tug means they have to calm down.

The Alpha Position – Even though you may think that learning how to puppy train is all on the dog, you have to realize the burden is on you. The truth is they don\’t understand what you\’re saying, so what you do will be important. Being in the alpha position means you\’re in complete control and considered the leader of the pack. If you portray yourself as the alpha male your dog will follow your commands since they will feel protected.

Obedience Training – The 3 training courses above are great, but obedience training may be your best bet. If you enroll the dog in these classes you will get an education yourself. They will teach you how to display control, stay in the alpha position, and give out strong commands without using physical or emotional force.

Consistency is Key

The one thing that all puppy training tips have in common is the need for consistency. A dog may seem smart, and in many ways they are, but much of what they learn is in response to a repeated, consistent environment. If you only make them sit before going out when you have time for it, they will get confused and excited and stop following your commands.

Understanding how to puppy train isn\’t the easiest thing to do. There are certain rules that must be established in order to provide a consistent atmosphere and a less stressful experience with your dog. In the end it will definitely be worth it.

Licking is a natural behavior that dogs learn from puppyhood. Dogs cannot verbalize what they feel and one of the ways by which they can show their affection to humans is by licking. Dogs will lick humans and dogs as a sign of friendliness or submission. The tongue is used by the mother dog to groom the puppies. The bond is strengthened when the dam licks the puppies but this habit is also done to induce the puppies to urinate and defecate.

Dogs have the inclination to lick their butts. Apparently, this kind of licking is not done as a show of affection nor is it a way of expressing themselves. Dog owners will be amused to see the efforts of a dog that is trying to lick the rear end. A dog owner though would not be amused if the dog that has been licking its butt would jump with alacrity to meet its master with sloppy kisses.

Mother dogs would lick the puppies\’ anal area after defecating. The behavior to lick was learned by dogs from puppyhood. A dog\’s long rough tongue is used not unlike a wash cloth for grooming purposes. Humans shake hands – dogs sniff each other\’s butts. If humans make sure that their hands are clean, dogs too would want to keep their butts feces free and this is done by licking. The dog\’s inclination to love obnoxious things is one of the turn offs for these animals. Dog owners would always complain about the dogs habit of eating feces and rolling in smelly objects. Given the dog\’s partiality to feces and smelly things, the habit to lick butts is understandable.

Butt licking can be due the dog\’s effort to remove a foreign object. Plastics, cloth and other non-edible objects will be ingested because dogs are indiscriminate eaters. The plastic, the cloth and other indigestible objects eaten by the dog will come out in the same form. The dog will be seen licking its butt to remove object dangling from its anus.

The pain and uncomfortable feeling associated with an impacted anal gland will make a dog lick its butt. Inexpensive and low quality dog food will result to soft stools so that the anal gland is not emptied normally. Anal glands that are not expressed will result to the buildup of bacteria. An impacted anal gland will make the dog uncomfortable. To alleviate the pain and the discomfort, the dog will be seen constantly scooting and licking the butt.

When it comes down to it, people crave the companionship of their pets. So much in fact, that people are willing to take extreme measures to ensure that their pets are as taken care of as they are. However, there are just as many people that do not care to consider dog health concerns that might exist as they get a little bit older.

This article will address the issue of the different health problems that dogs can face as they age. You will learn about some of the things you can do to take care of your four-legged friend in his golden years. Additionally, you are going to get a brief breakdown of some common issues that dogs have as they age. Perhaps you will be able to diagnose a potential problem early to combat the condition.

Choosing the food that your dog eats as they age will be a very important step towards keeping them healthy and strong. Just like humans, dogs\’ nutritional needs change as they get older. There are special blends of foods available that are enriched with the minerals and vitamins that can help older dogs stay healthy and strong as they get on in years.

This also means that you are going to have to keep a mindful eye on the amount of food that they are eating every single day. It\’s still good for your dog to get regular meals, but you may need to reduce the amount of food at each meal. Older dogs typically expend less energy than younger dogs, so they don\’t burn as many calories. In the later years, dogs are more apt to gain weight and get overweight as a result. Life is uncomfortable for any creature who can\’t get around easily because he\’s too heavy.

You have to be aware of some of the more common conditions that affect dogs as they age. It will be beneficial to you and to your pet if you are able to spot these conditions in their early stages and be prepared for them. The first of these will be a pet form of arthritis. Often, a very active dog throughout the youth and middle years of their life tend to have joint trouble as they get old. Joint pain can be managed with medication from your veterinarian. Make sure you conduct a complete pet insurance comparison now so that this kind of cost will be covered when the time comes.

Sometimes older dogs\’ coats start to look a little thinner as less lustrous. You might be able to get supplements for them that can improve the thickness and health of their coat. This can get rather patchy as they get to be senior dogs, and it starts to be ineffective in its purpose.

You have to be prepared for the fact that their eyes and ears are going to suffer as a result of their getting older as well. This calls for alteration of their lifestyle and your expectations. You may need to approach them more slowly and make noise as you do so. A dog that is surprised is likely to nip at someone. Keep their bed in a comfortable spot and make it easy for them to get around your home.

Really, a dog that is in its golden years is one that has given you the best years of its life. You need to focus on taking care of it as much as it has cared for you throughout its life. This starts with your constant consideration of dog health and well being.

One of the most important things you can do to ensure your pet\’s health is to get pet health insurance. In order to make sure you get low cost pet insurance that offers real coverage when you need it, be sure to do your own pet insurance comparison.

The gorgeous red-gold Irish Setter I well-informed owned given that I was fourteen no longer greeted me when I came house. When I obtained back there was no explanation, no apology, just the cold, challenging truth that Rusty was no significantly a lot much more.

Couple of males and ladies comprehend the pain of losing a cherished pet. These critics have either stumbled upon a poor encounter, or essentially have in no way experienced a canine.

Anybody who\’s ever knowledgeable a pup knows how a full whole lot joy they can bring. Certain they occasionally don\’t relieve themselves in the correct location, or scare your guest, but they\’re worth it. From the moment they cuddle up in your arms as you bring them home, a exceptional bond is formed in involving canine and master.

I sometimes wonder about my dog. Did he die because the sitter was careless and fed him some type of bone? Maybe she hit my dog. Maybe it was because my dog missed me too much. Maybe, the sitter let the dog escape and he got run over. Maybe she forgot to close the door and someone tried to break in, and Rusty attacked the thief and got killed in the process. I don\’t know.

Life\’s uncertain. That much I have learned. While there are many things in life you can\’t control, you should take advantage of the ones that you can control. Things like life insurance, health insurance, and home security systems, while at the time may seem like an inconvenience, can prevent so much grief. If I\’d had a security monitoring system, who knows, maybe Rusty would still be here today.

Dogs know how to create and maintain a friendship. After all, they are referred to as mans best friend, are they not? You may be inspired to get a dog, by any kind of reason. It may be because you want company thats not necessarily human. A dog will stay with you and listen to you talk without judging. And sometimes an emotional outlet like this is important in fostering good health. But before you bring home a German shepherd, it would be good to understand the changes that you will be compelled to make.

For one you will need to be more responsible. Getting a dog is easy, but maintaining and living with one is work. First you need to make sure that their dietary needs are met. This means buying food for them, or making it yourself. Either way its something that you need to get used to. You need to groom your pet and make sure his hygiene is maintained.

You also need to get acquainted with a local vet because their office is one place you will be visiting occasionally. Regular check-ups are essential in maintaining a healthy dog. You also have to create a playtime schedule. Dogs bottle in so much energy when they are in the house, so a regular weekend at the park throwing Frisbees is something you have to squeeze into your schedule, together with regular walks.

The Expense- deciding to own a dog will mean further dividing your paycheck. You dont get a free first visit to the vet, so you need to have money set aside for that. Then there is dog food that you need to keep buying, especially if your dog is big. Additional expenses include chew toys and other playthings for the dog, a dog house, dog collars and so on.

The Benefit- It takes the biggest percentage in this triad. The reward you get from owning a dog makes all the little troubles worth your while. Dog companionship will take feelings of depression and loneliness away, and therere is proof to back that up. Besides, who wouldnt want a friend who sticks with you through thick and thin? And not just that, when you have something to take care of, it bestows a feeling of importance, which is worth any trouble at all.

Owning a dog involves these three parts. There are more details involved when you go deeper into the subject. From a general point of view, owning a dog is an awesome thing, not only for you but your family as well, only if you can withstand the cost and the responsibility.

No one is sure why some dogs suffer from separation anxiety and others don\’t but, separation anxiety can become a real problem for both you and your dog especially if that problem is compounded by excitable urination upon your return.

The first step in dealing with separation anxiety in your dog is knowing what is occurring when you are gone. If your dog is howling, barking or continually whining when he is left alone, he tends to be destructive when you are gone but not destructive when you are close by then he probably suffers from separation anxiety. In the simplest terms this means that when left alone your pet becomes lonely, miserable and even fearful. This is made worse in some dogs when you come home. They are so glad to see you that they get so excited that they lose control of their bladder leaving a smelly puddle on your floor. They can\’t help this type of urination it is simply their body\’s response to this extreme excitement.

You can solve both problems with some simple training of your dog. To begin helping your dog overcome his separation anxiety start by sitting in a room with him quietly while he plays with some of his favorite toys. Once he has gotten used to playing while you sit quietly get up and leave the room for just a minute and then return and once again sit quietly. Continue doing this, extending the time you are gone until you can leave the room for a half an hour or more without the dog feeling uncomfortable.

The next step is to start making short trips out of doors. If your dog barks or howls remain outside until he has quieted and then return and again sit quietly in a chair. Eventually, you can increase your time out of door and then even leave the property without causing any anxiety in your dog.

No Fan Fair

One of the important things to remember is that dogs are sensitive to the feelings and actions of their owners. If you make a big production of your leaving and returning, your dog will see these actions as an important event in which he should feel anxious or excited. If you handle your going and comings with matter of factness your dog will attach less importance to these events as well.

By training your dog to accept your goings and comings as a natural order of things, the problem of excitable urination will most often resolve itself. If you leave and then return without paying any special attention to your dog on your arrival he will accept your return with calmness over time and the problem will simply cease to exist.

However, make sure that you do give your dog the attention he needs and craves at other times, spending quality time with him during the course of the day will teach him that you value his companionship and he will be less likely to suffer when he is not the center of attention or when he is left alone.

Making sure your dog has fresh water and food and plenty of toys to play with will also help to keep him engaged and entertained while you are gone.

Dogs are definitely loveable and can faithfully be a part of the family. However, at some point in time, they can tend to be destructive in any household once they begin to poop indoors. During such incidences, indoor dog potties should be utilized.

Frustration will be normally felt as you experience this for the first time because you cannot expect your dog to understand your command right away. Forcing the dog as well as yourself into this new habit will be hard. For training to be easier for you and your dog, here are some tips which would be of great help.

With the ultimate purpose of helping your dog to stop messing around your home, you must put a limit to his path indoors but not until he is done with the potty training. You may just limit him in a tiny room with clutter-free flooring.

The past spots where your dog has placed his mess before should be kept clean and renewed so that it will steer him away from going back to that old area where he thought was the right potty place. Also, try to play with and feed them in those previous spots so that they would have a different perception of that spot instead of just being a potty place.

You have to be responsible enough to announce to everyone in your household the indoor dog potty training method that you are trying to implement so that they will not forget to do the same even during your absence. This will prevent your dog from getting confused or else you can be definite that it would still take a longer amount of time before it learns.

The concept of indoor dog potty training is very important in that it requires your complete and focused attention. For sure, it would turn out much easier if you would train your dogs while they are young as just like people, the older ones are harder to train.

Make sure that you bring with you enough patience during the training as well as giving your dog appropriate positive reinforcements along the way. Also reward him regularly each time he makes his indoor potty training correctly. After some time, good results will be seen indeed.

John Harrington has been in the field of indoor dog potties for a long time and maintains an indoor dog potty website where you can get answers to the rest of your questions.

We all love our dogs. From golden retrievers to pugs, not matter what type of do you have, you want to make sure that the family pet is happy and healthy. That they live the best life that they can possibly live.

So when your puppy is suffering, we begin to worry. When man\’s best friend is injured or falls ill, we know that it is our responsibility to find put what is ailing them and find a way to stop it. Some of us will rush to the vet, hoping for the best. Other, less involved pet owners may miss the signs entirely, leaving the poor pet in pain, or assume that a passing cold or bug is to blame.

You might not be aware but a dog can fall ill due to allergies much like their owners can. These \”dog allergies\” are a bit different then ours but our pets will still suffer from them.

Just because you see your dog scratch, does not mean that he or she is suffering from severe dog allergies. It is quite normal for your pet to get an itch here and there. It is not common, however, for them to be constantly and vigorously gnawing or scratching one particular area of their body.

When we think of allergies, we usually think of them as an inconvenience. The truth is that these health issues can range from simply an annoyance to something that could severely harm your pet.

One of the most common allergies that dogs develop is to their food, or a certain type of food to be specific. This can be one of the most dangerous allergies to your pet and one of the toughest to find. This is due to the fact that most pet owners never think of it.

Most dogs are allergic to at least some of the ingredients in the average bag of dog food. This does not mean that all dogs will become sick from them. It simply means that if your dog is displaying signs that they may be having digestive issues, it will most likely be caused by the food that you\’re feeding them.

Finding this can be a lot of hard work, however, as more often than not, a single component of the formula is behind the problem. Switching to a new blend may very well improve matters, or at least help. Similarly, anti-flea formulas often cause a skin reaction that brings on the scratching you were hoping to prevent. Selecting an organic product instead may make a world of difference.

If you are worried that your pet may be suffering from dog allergies, the honest truth is that they best way to find out is to bring your pet to a vet. The vet will be able to further assist you and help you make the best medical choice for your dog.

If you are the owner of a dog, you would frequently have come across the problem of the dog pulling you. If you have resorted to different tactics to face this problem and have not met with any success, here are some valuable guidelines that are sure to work out with your dog and make them stop pulling.

One of the best ways to stop dog pulling at his leash is to train your dog in the heel command. The first step is to adorn your dog with a collar and a leash. Make it a point to position yourself at the right side of your dog, which will make both of your heads in the same direction.

Remember to walk ahead in a straight line putting your left leg first. Never try pulling your dog towards you when it attempts to pull you. Instead just stop walking.

Your dog will also learn to stop pulling. When you do this, there is no need to teach any particular command for your dog to pick up this technique.

If you ensure that your moves are sudden, your dog will be conscious of your every move. To stop dog pulling, when he starts pulling on the leash, make sudden twists and turns, totally contrary to one another, to flounder him. Now he will focus on where you are headed.

Eventually he will come to you and the moment he does, bend down and give him some encouragement by patting him and probably feeding him a biscuit. Keep your cool and be tolerant with him. Scolding to stop dog pulling will not yield any positive response from him.

Once you\’ve decided that you are going to take a firm stand to stop dog pulling, make sure you never relax any methods adopted. Each time he tries to pull you to him, take some steps, which prevent this from happening. On the other hand, your occasional lenience will only bring confusion into his mind. So, the best policy is to stick by your rules.

Never give up on leash walking practice, even if it appears tiresome and your dog seems to go back to his old ways of pulling you along. Remember, stop dog pulling is not something you can achieve in a day, it requires a lot of patience and effort to bring your dog to heel. Each time he obeys you, smother him with love and affection and all his favorite things to make him realize the importance of what he has done.

When the above mentioned methods fail to deliver any positive results, then you\’ll need to resort to other options available in the market. Some devices like gentle leaders, prong collars, easy walk harness, head halters, etc. are known to give good results. Of course, get proper guidance from a professional before experimenting with any other methods that you try out to stop dog pulling.

Some dog owners want their dogs to live in a life of luxury and a new industry specifically for this purpose has allowed owners to do just that. In this article you will find some ideas that you may want to consider in order to do this for your dog.

For starters, there are clothes made specifically for your dog, which is a big hit among celebs and dog owners in big cities. There are jackets, hoodies, t- shirts, play suits, dresses and costumes for man\’s best friend. Every dog owner is sure to find something for their dog since these doggy clothes come in different colors and patterns.

You don\’t have to dress your dog in a doggy outfit every day, but they are available if this is what you choose. Or you can just buy outfits for certain occasions since those are available as well.

You can dress your doggy in cute dresses, suits and coats in the winter to keep your pup warm during those cold frigid months.

There are even pet beauty products. You can give your dog a fancy shampoo with the lavish shampoos and conditioners. Or you can polish your doggy\’s nails to make her look pretty with nail varnish that is also made to strengthen the nails.

Don\’t worry, if your dog has a strong scent, you can freshen him or her up with some eau de toilette spray for dogs. It is available in a variety of scents and can be applied with a brush or by hand.

Now, if your pup deserves a real treat, you can check your doggy into a five star pooch hotel. The doggy room comes with food bowls and a doggy bed, and a 24 inch television if your pup is lucky enough to be in the presidential suite.

Your pup can visit the spa in the hotel and indulge in one of the four pampering sessions or they can visit the grooming center, or simply lay out by the pool if they want to relax. If he prefers to be active he can visit the climbing frames to play.

This writer also often contributes articles regarding products such as valeo lifting gloves and weighted gloves.
