Dog and Puppy Rearing generally is a very rewarding experience however it can also be a whole lot of exhausting work. That is something that lots of people don’t consider when getting a new dog. Puppies much like human infants, need nearly constant care and attention particularly within the earlier stages. Puppies love to use their mouths to explore things around them. Smelling and tasting are the first methods a puppy will find out about different things. If that ‘new…

I got a puppy today and she has a habit of whining… especially if we leave the house. I live in a hotel-style apartment with tile floors and long narrow hallways so the sound echos. I will stand outside the door to see how see reacts when we leave and she will continue to cry and bark.
How do you fix this? how can you train her to be quiet?

I just got a blue ACD puppy and he is so cute. I can;t think of a name for him! I want a really cool name, or a noble name. I would like the name to be Australian, but a lot of the ones I found were just really odd words. I want something that is recognizable to most people, but with an Australian influence. Also I like ancient Greek/Roman history so these would be cool too.

I am considering using a training collar to teach my dog boundaries. I need to be able to keep her off leash, but she runs off if I let her off the leash. A fence, even an invisible fence, is out of the question as its not my house. I’ve tried teaching her boundaries for the last 5 months but it is not working well. She won’t respond to "come" unless she’s in the mood. I want to use a…

I am interested in adopting a puppy for the deaf/blind for a few months so it can be socialised, before giving it up to a blind or deaf person.
Has anyone done this before and if so, what was it like?

She promises all the answers to really good issues with obedience training for cairn terriers and dogs in general but she didn’t have ANYTHING anybody that’s ever seen a dog wouldn’t already know! I am constantly being bombarded with advertisements for the very information I paid her for! She brags a 120 Day "no questions asked" refund policy but won’t refund or answer emails. Am I the only one who fell for this scam?

I’m thinking about getting a home dog trainer. How much does it usually cost? I know it depends and the price varies, but what does it generally cost?
I’m thinking about getting a trainer from barkbusters. Anyone heard of them? Are they successful at what they do? Also, in general, do these (dog training) lessons pay off. That is, are they even worth it/ beneficial?
If it helps at all, I live in California.

We have a 7 month old beagle/coonhound mix and going to beginner classes for training.
The trainer said we should exercise her alot before going to class. We don’t want to tire her out too much…but will try more next week….see if it helps.
Are there any other suggestions besides tire the dog out?
Thanks
